Today I thought I would give you an insight into my personal work, I have wanted to photograph this very special lady for some time now. She is a friend of my mother’s and has had a very distinguished career teaching piano at the Royal Northern College and is still teaching and accompanying countless students at countless Music Festivals and Exams. Eva’s passion for her music and love for animals is an integral part of her live. She is a charming lady that emanates a “joie de vivre”. It was a real pleasure to photograph her and listen to a beautiful nocturne of Chopin. I used fixed lenses 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.4 with the Nikon D800. Sam

Hi Samantha
I like your pictures of Eva. I had many lessons with and often think about her since she died. I am glad that you got a few shots of her and I have been back several times to your website to take another look!

I found this post after Googling Eva’s name today. Eva taught me piano from age 7 to age 16(I’m now 32) and I did grades 1-8 with her tuition. I’m a professional piano and keyboard player and since the beginning of lockdown I’ve been playing classical music again and practising much more regularly, feeling newly inspired, which would definitely have pleased her. Thank you for these lovely pictures of and words about someone to whom I owe so much.
Eva was also a longstanding friend of my mum-Nanette Halewood (nee Degg). They met at music college in Manchester We lived in Eva’s house for a year in 1975. These are absolutely beautiful photos of Eva.
